Mt. Sneffels Press

When I looked around for options to self-publish the Broom series, I found that a number of houses available on the Internet offer to help self publishers. But they charge $1K to $2K setup fees, and then sell the books back to the authors for $10 to $15 apiece! By the time the poor authors sell these books, they've been marked up into the $30 range—much more than people want to pay. So...I did some research and decided I'd create my own small press. So far it's just me. But, who knows? So I made it flexible.

Mt. Sneffels Press is a small press focusing on quality paperback books written by authors in and around Ridgway, Colorado. We're pleased to announce our first book, The Story of the Great American Flying Broomstick, Book 1: Genesis, released in October, 2007. The sequel to Genesis is The Missing Wand, due out in July, 2008. And the third in the Broomstick series is FOG at the Crossroads, due out in October, 2008. Be on the lookout!

Why "Mt. Sneffels?" Mt. Sneffels is the tallest peak in the Sneffels Range, which in turn is part of the San Juan Mountains in Southwestern Colorado. And, of course, the San Juans are part of the Rocky Mountains. Mt. Sneffels is an oddly-shaped mountain, nearly triangular, with a tiny bump at its tip. You can read about Mt. Sneffels in Wikipedia.

The picture used in the Mt. Sneffels Press logo was taken from a vantage point near Dallas Divide, on Colorado Highway 62 west of Ridgway, from approximately 38°05'39"N, 107°52'50"W.

Mt. Sneffels Press is not a "vanity" press. It's a good old fashioned publishing house. We do everything: the page setup, the pre-press, contracting for printing, obtaining "real" ISBNs, and shipping. Nothing except the printing itself is contracted out.
